I enjoy representing Federal Employees with their requests for medical reasonable accommodations because this is an area of law where an attorney can make a real difference in someone’s life.

  1. Federal Employees who are suffering from a substantial impairment of their major life activities are entitled to receive an effective accommodation that allows them to perform the essential functions of their job unless it will cause their federal agency (i.e. Veterans Administration, Dept. of the Army, etc.…) an undue hardship.

  1. An undue hardship is a very high burden for a federal agency to meet since undue burden is often times assessed by an Administrative Judge in terms of cost. Since the Federal government is in the top 3 employers of the World it is very difficult for them to argue that they can’t afford an accommodation if it is truly needed by the federal employee.
